Welcome to the web site to celebrate our great town!

The web site is proudly presented in French and English. Simply click on language of choice FR and EN on top of web page on computer or FR and EN

A new name for the site… But one that is truly welcoming. And that is what our community is all about! The site is designed and planned locally…for all of us, but we also incorporated all kinds of information to provide historic info to all the non-residents and especially to all who have roots here… and live in other parts of the world. Many of our ancestors from south of Montreal moved to this area of SW Ontario in the early 1830’s That’s right! We celebrated our 150th in 2004! And through the years, many other folks chose Pain Court as their home. Many Northern European families came, especially after the two wars. Hard workers, ambitious people. Others came from New Brunswick and Quebec. In the last few years, we welcomed many new families from Chatham-Kent. We are a proud multilingual community, with still a strong francophone presence. People speak highly of our two well-respected and well- known schools with instruction “en français”. Agriculture is the foundation of Pain Court. Our farms produce a multitude of crops that feed our country and other parts of the world. Pain Court farmers were among the first Canadians to produce hybrid corn in 1938. And today, the rich lands of our community produce thousands of record-breaking crops of corn, soybeans, wheat, tomatoes, and many horticultural crops. And many of these crops on diked lands that lie below the water level of neighbouring Lake St. Clair. A fascinating story. Enjoy browsing the web site! Check often…as we will continue to present additional information.
It’s a Pain Court thing!

A new logo!

You will remember the logo developed for the 150 th Anniversary. Now we present to you a new one. For the website and address but also for all uses in the years to come. A short loaf of bread accompanying the words Pain Court. Fully representative of what we are. A welcoming community.

Check out the Facebook page!

Our website features the Pain Court Facebook page. Impressive readership with every Post. Our Friends list now number over 1,200 and rising. Lots of people in this small community and all around the world. But not everyone follows Facebook. So as a courtesy, you can check our website. Many thanks to our administrator who lives in Quebec City. A proud Pain Court past resident!

Pain Court Bread

Are you aware that Maple City Bakery introduced a Pain Court bread a few years ago. It’s available most mornings at the bakery. And it can also be ordered as Buns…for family functions, banquets and for a great local bread for your meals. The bread is highly nutritious. A special recipe of multigrain sourdough. Yummy and Super choice for toasts. If more people order, it will continue to be available. Normally on the top shelf, towards the side door.

The identification of photos

We all know it! Old photos of people are sometimes hard to identify. Our gallery will continue to feature new and old photos as they become available. If you recognize someone, let us know!

Once we develop a good system, we will ask for the cooperation of our visitors to put a name or names to the faces.

More to come.
